Terms of Service
Last updated September 2026. Plain English, on purpose.
1. What Thepsychotherapistindex is
Thepsychotherapistindex is a directory that introduces clients to independent, vetted psychotherapists across the UK. We are not a healthcare provider, and we do not employ, supervise, or clinically manage any therapist listed on the platform.
The therapeutic relationship — including fees, scheduling, session format, and all clinical decisions — is agreed directly between you and your therapist.
2. User-generated content disclaimer
Therapist profiles — including names, summaries, approaches, photographs, stated fees, and availability — are user-generated content created and supplied by the therapist themselves. We verify each therapist's qualification, professional membership, and insurance before they are listed, but we do not endorse, review, or guarantee the content of any profile.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, or truthfulness of user-generated profile content, or for the quality, safety, or outcome of any therapy arranged through the platform. Any views expressed in a profile are those of the therapist, not of Thepsychotherapistindex.
Client messages sent through the platform are also user-generated content. You are responsible for what you write, and must not use messaging to harass, spam, market to, or impersonate another person.
If you believe a profile or message is inaccurate, misleading, or breaches these terms, please tell us and we will review it. We may edit or remove user-generated content, or suspend a listing, where these terms are breached.
3. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes anyone's liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under the laws of England and Wales.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) Thepsychotherapistindex is not liable for any loss — direct, indirect, or consequential — arising from your use of the directory, from reliance on user-generated content, or from any therapy, communication, or arrangement between you and a therapist; and (b) our total liability for any claim connected with the platform is limited to the total subscription fees you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
If you have a concern about therapy you have received, please raise it with your therapist and, where appropriate, their professional body. Professional bodies handle complaints about their members independently of us.
4. Therapist subscriptions & payments
A therapist listing is subject to a monthly subscription of £12.99, paid securely through Stripe by card or UK Direct Debit.
Direct Debit payments take 3–7 working days to clear. Your listing is marked as pending clearance during this time, and becomes fully active automatically once your bank confirms the payment. If a payment later fails, we will let you know and you can set up payment again; listings pause if a subscription stays unpaid.
Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time. Cancellation stops future payments; access to your listing continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
5. Therapist responsibilities
By listing your practice you confirm that your qualification, professional membership, and insurance details are accurate, and you agree to keep them current for as long as you are listed.
You confirm you are entitled to practise, hold valid professional indemnity insurance, and abide by the code of ethics of your professional body.
While Thepsychotherapistindex will send courtesy reminders before your credentials expire, it remains the therapist's responsibility to provide valid, up-to-date proof of insurance and qualifications. Failure to provide renewed documents prior to their expiry date will result in the immediate suspension or removal of your listing to ensure directory accuracy.
We may remove or suspend a listing if verification cannot be confirmed, if a professional body raises concerns, or if these terms are breached.
6. Accounts, suspension & termination
Keep your account sign-in details safe. You are responsible for activity carried out under your account.
We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, mislead clients, or put anyone at risk.
You may close your account and remove your listing at any time by contacting us.
7. Changes & governing law
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be flagged on the platform before they take effect.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
This page is a placeholder draft. It is not legal advice — please have it reviewed by a qualified professional before you rely on it in production.
