Privacy Policy

We collect only what the platform needs to work: your account details, the profile content you publish, documents you upload for verification, and messages you send through the platform.

Verification documents (qualification, membership, and insurance) are stored privately and can only be viewed by our vetting team. They are never shown on your public profile or shared with other users.

Messages between clients and therapists are visible only to the two people in the conversation. We do not read, sell, or share them.

You may request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account at any time, and we will do so promptly. If you are a UK or EU resident, you have rights under GDPR, including access, rectification, and erasure.

Terms of Service

Thepsychotherapistindex is a directory that introduces clients to independent, verified psychotherapists. We are not a healthcare provider, and we do not employ, supervise, or manage the therapists listed.

The therapeutic relationship — including fees, scheduling, session format, and clinical decisions — is agreed directly between client and therapist. Disputes about therapy itself should be raised with the therapist or their professional body.

Therapists listed on the platform confirm that their qualification, professional membership, and insurance details are accurate, and agree to keep them current.

Therapist listings are subject to a monthly subscription of £12.99, arranged directly with our team. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time.

We may remove or suspend a listing if verification cannot be confirmed, if a professional body raises concerns, or if the platform's rules are breached.

Important: we are not an emergency service

Thepsychotherapistindex cannot provide urgent or crisis care. If you are in immediate danger, call 999 (UK).

For urgent mental-health support, visit 111.nhs.uk or call Samaritans free on 116 123, day or night.

If you are thinking about harming yourself, please reach out to one of the above services now — they are trained to help.
